Scott Andrew Currie, 47, Vero Beach/Fellsmere

Scott Andrew Currie, 47, of the Vero Beach/Fellsmere area, passed away on March 10, 2018, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian. He was born in Manchester, N.H., was raised in Delhi, N.Y. and lived in Vero/Fellsmere area since 1992 coming from his hometown.

Scott received his Bachelor’s Degree from FIT in Melbourne, Fla. After graduation, he was involved with Holsum Bakeries and moved on to purchase a route for Arnold Bread Company.

He loved flying and was a former member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

Survivors include his father, David Currie (partner, Janice) of Oneonta, N.Y., step-sister Jennifer McGrath (partner, Mike) and children, Claire and Noah, of Adams, Mass.; step-brother Scott Georgia, of Tarrytown, N.Y.; longtime partner and business associate Shadd Ramsey, and family, of Fellsmere; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many longtime friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Currie, in October 2009.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Scott’s memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Sebastian.

 

Marilyn R. Dorsette, 81, Sebastian

Marilyn R. Dorsette, 81, of Sebastian, passed away into the arms of Jesus March 10, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 9, 1936, in Miami, Fla., and moved to Sebastian in 1994 from Clewiston, Fla.

During her career, she embraced her work as a secretary at Lawnwood Elementary, Ft. Pierce; Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, Ft. Pierce; Good Shepherd UMC, West Palm Beach; and for the last 20 years at Sebastian Realty.

She was a member of Roseland UMC where she served as an usher and on the Shepherding and Worship committees. She was a passionate lover and rescuer of animals.

She is preceded in death 11 years to the day by her husband of 51 years, Rodney; and her sister, Iris Noland.

Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly (partner, Scott) Cruickshank, of Sebastian; son, Kevin Dorsette, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Billie Bethel, of Sebastian; niece, Lynn Cordova, of Sebastian; grandchildren, Marilyn, of Seaside, Calif.; Meredith, of Gastonia, N.C.; Kasie and Joshua Hughes, of Hickory, N.C.; and cherished cat, George.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Roseland UMC, 12962 Roseland Rd., Roseland, with Pastor Linda Tice.
