New works by George Paxton and Joel Johnson will be featured during March at the Center for Spiritual Care in Vero Beach. The exhibition opened with an artist’s reception March 2 and will run through Monday, April 2.
The Center is located at 1550 24th St., Vero Beach, two blocks north of Vero’s Main Library.
The two-man show, titled “People and Places,” will feature Paxton’s sculptures and Johnson’s watercolors. Both are nationally recognized for their artistic achievements.
“These artists each have a unique vision that sets them apart,” says Center arts coordinator Warren Obluck. “Paxton ranks right up there with the best figurative sculptors in the country and Johnson is one of the most highly regarded water colorists working today.”
Paxton received his training at the Art Students League and the Grand Central Academy of Art in New York, the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C., and the Florence Academy of Art in Italy.
Johnson’s MFA is from Utah State. He has conducted painting workshops throughout the United States and Italy and won numerous awards. He recently was awarded the John Singer Sargent award of special merit by the Transparent Watercolor Society.
