FELLSMERE — A 26-year-old man suspected of having two sexual encounters with an underage girl told the victim to “keep it a secret” because of their age difference, police said.
Fellsmere police arrested Salvador Alberto-Ramos, of 26 N. Elm Street, Tuesday with lewd and lascivious battery on a child age 14 to 16. He is from Honduras and in America illegally, police said. Alberto-Ramos has an immigration hold at the Indian River County Jail without bond.
Investigators first became aware of Alberto-Ramos when the parents of the girl reported the relationship between the two on Feb. 14, police said. Officers later learned that Alberto-Ramos had at least two sexual encounters with the girl and told the minor to keep it a secret.
Alberto-Ramos deleted all records of communications with the girl from his two cell phones. The relationship between the two lasted six months, according to an arrest report.
Police became aware that Alberto-Ramos possibly engaged in sexual activity with other minors. They also learned he and the minors might have exchanged sexually explicit pictures by cell phone text.
Anyone with information about this crime or others committed by Alberto-Ramos should contact Detective Adam Dean at 772-571-1360. Police continue to investigate the incident.
