Cornelius DeLeeuw, Jr., 82, Vero Beach

Cornelius “Neal” DeLeeuw, Jr., 82, of Vero Beach, died peacefully on Jan. 17 at Florida Baptist Retirement Center.

Neal is survived by his wife, Lydee Carol; three children, Dorothy (Dennis), Denise (Michael), and Darryl (Beverly); brother, David (Mary) DeLeeuw; sister, Dorothy (James) Amels; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 500 Iris Lane, Vero Beach. Interment will be at Cape Canaveral Cemetery in Mims, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

 

Richard Kessell, 80, Sebastian

Richard Kessell, 80, of Sebastian, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 20, 2018. Born in Fall River, Mass., he lived in Hanson and Marshfield, Mass., before retiring to Sebastian.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was the owner of Fasprint Printing Company in Brockton, Mass.

Richard leaves behind his wife, Cynthia; his four daughters and step-son; along with nieces, a nephew and grandchildren.

Services are private at the request of the family.

 

Hazel Kinney, 88, Sebastian

Hazel Kinney, 88, of Sebastian, passed away on Wednesday Jan. 17, 2018. Hazel was born in Vermilion Grove, Ill. on Jan. 10, 1930, alongside twin sister Helen Boggess to Francis and Amanda Kendall Boggess. Hazel grew up in Metcalf, Ill., on a farm.

She married the love of her life, Kenneth Kinney, Jan. 20, 1951.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; her sister, Helen Boggess, of Bement, Ill.; five daughters, Kim (Jesse) Winsloff, of Sebastian, Wendy (Al) Helms, of Orlando, Renee Berg (Jeffery), of Alachua, Fla., Ramona (Richard) Champagne, of Islamorada, Fla., Tammy Kinney, of Sebastian; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Metcalf High School in 1948 followed by a degree in Nursing from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., specializing in surgery.

Hazel was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1952. She enjoyed attending Christian meetings and sharing the good news of Jehovah’s Kingdom with her brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall.

When she wasn’t in the ministry she enjoyed spending her time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

 

Susan Kolesnik, 75, Vero Beach

Susan Kolesnik, 75, of Vero Beach, passed away Jan. 18, 2018, at St. Lucie Hospice House. She was born April 28, 1942, in Gary, Ind., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 45 years, coming from Dallas, Texas.

She retired from the Indian River County School District in 2000 as a Primary Specialist. She was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach, and served as their pianist since 1999.

She is survived by her sons, Bill Kolesnik and David (Jackie) Kolesnik, both of Vero Beach; sister, Gene (Jerry) Mackin, of Wimberly, Texas; and granddaughters, Alexis, Natalie and Elizabeth.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, in 1998.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Noon Wednesday, Jan. 24, at St. Helen Catholic Church followed by an interment at Crestlawn Cemetery, Vero Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church.

 

Foster Lampert, 84, Vero Beach

Foster Lampert, 84, of Vero Beach, passed away Friday evening, Jan. 19, 2018, in Vero Beach.

He formerly served in the U.S. Army working with the Air Force (SCARWAF), was a union painter and carpenter, operated a remodeling ad decorating business, and was most known for being a ballroom dance instructor.

Originally a farm boy, he was born in Garden Prairie, Ill., to Harold and Grace Lampert.

He owned and operated several dance studios, then the Tiara Ballroom in Bloomington, Ill., where he met his wife of 26 years, Judi. They lived in Ashville, N.C., for 20 years before moving to Indian River Estates in Vero Beach.

He was a 9-year survivor of pancreatic cancer and whipple surgery.

A memorial service will be held at Indian River Estates at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4.
