INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 25-year-old man suspected of stripping in front of a gym told deputies he took heroin a couple hours earlier, deputies said.
Robert Joseph Fishman, of the 90 block of Harbour Drive, Vero Beach, was charged with exposure of sexual organs, two counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence. He is being held at the Indian River County Jail without bond.
Deputies went to the gym about 4 p.m. Sunday in response to a man with tattoos standing directly in front of the building naked and talking to himself. The gym is located at a shopping plaza in the 1200 block of U.S. 1, south of 17th Street and north of 12th Street.
Upon arrival, deputies saw a man, later identified as Fishman, with no shirt, no shoes and jeans that were low enough to expose his sexual organs. Deputies said Fishman was rambling, not making any sense and had difficulty concentrating.
Fishman then told deputies that he took heroin a couple hours ago and was trying to get to his father’s house. Deputies spoke with a gym employee, who said at one point, Fishman took his pants completely off while on the front sidewalk.
The gym had about 20 customers inside at the time of the incident, deputies said. Deputies said customers at the gym and nearby businesses were concerned that Fishman’s behavior could lead to worse actions without law enforcement intervening.
Fishman was arrested and taken to the county jail for booking.
