In Memoriam: Dec. 23-28

Marjorie “Margo” Ann Arnold, 63, Vero Beach

Marjorie “Margo” Ann Arnold, 63, of Vero Beach, passed away Sunday, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2017, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

Margo was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach in 1964. She graduated from Vero Beach High School 1972, attended Indian River Community College, and ultimately earned a BA in Marketing from Nova Southeastern University.

She received her private pilot’s license by the age of 21 and enjoyed a long history of participation with the 4-H Club of Indian River County.

Margo had a life-time passion for all things horses, but especially English Hunter-Jumpers. She rarely attended a horseshow where she was unable to identify the most important participants (The horses, silly! Not the riders).

Survivors include her sister Dottie (Jim) Mueller, of Vero Beach; brother, Flip Arnold of Chicago, Ill.; nephew, J.P. Mueller; nieces Rory Mueller, Lauren Arnold Melrose, and Jody (Eric) Lowd; step-brothers Bradley Soash, of Canton, Mich., Norman Soash, of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., and Don Soash, of New Port Richey, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip J. Arnold, Jr., and Marjorie Arnold Soash; step-father, Evan Soash; and brother, Jim Arnold.

Margo helped create the business model for Jimmy’s Tree Service and she worked there with her sister and brother-in-law as their Information Technology guru.

After facing a breast cancer diagnosis, Margo rose phoenix-like to enjoy the best years of her life. She was the best sister, best aunt, best friend, and best business partner anyone could want.

Margo was also an avid dog-owner whose taste in canines ranged far and wide. In the last years of her life she was inseparable from “Ice,” her mini Australian Sheppard whom Margo had rescued to celebrate her success in overcoming life’s challenges.

Margo was a private person, a voracious reader, and a lover of crossword puzzles and word games. She was also a committed beach walker and sea glass enthusiast. Her favorite time of day was sunrise. Armed only with a smartphone, Margo would start her day by capturing and sharing the beauty of the world as seen from the tide line.

Like her footprints in the sand during one of those sunrise walks, she imprinted her beauty on our hearts and souls.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A gathering time for friends and family to celebrate her life will be 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
