OSCEOLA COUNTY — A motorcyclist killed in a crash on Florida’s Turnpike on Monday has been identified, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Ernest Velez, 55, of Vero Beach, was driving north on a motorcycle at 8:25 a.m. Monday near mile marker 235 in Osceola County. For an unknown reason, the motorcycle went into the median and struck a guardrail.
The impact jolted Velez off the vehicle and caused the motorcycle to rollover, troopers said. Velez was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, an FHP report shows.
FHP continues to investigate the crash.
