Gloria Marie Carson, 87, Vero Beach
Gloria Marie Carson, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away Dec. 13, 2017.
She was born Dec. 1, 1930, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to the late Enrico and Mary Teresa Lore. Gloria had been a resident of Vero Beach for over 20 years coming from New York.
She was an avid Yankees fan and loved to dance. Her family will miss her exceptional cooking, especially her meatballs and gravy. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughters, Belinda Carson, of Vero Beach, Cathy Pezzola, of Vero Beach, and Janice Bonanno, of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Joseph Lore, Samuel Lore and Vincent Lore; sisters, Mary Teresa Glazer and Antoinette Longo; grandchildren, Michael Carson, Joseph Bonanno and Christopher Bonanno; and eight great-grandchildren.
At the request of the family, there will be no services.
Sherley Park Hohmann, 88, Vero Beach
Sherley Park Hohmann, affectionately named “Candy,” of Vero Beach, passed away at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, just three days past her 88th birthday. Born and raised primarily on the south side of Chicago Dec. 9, 1929, to Martha Whitehead Park and Dr. Thomas Park, Candy attended public school in Hyde Park and graduated from Beloit College in 1951.
At Beloit, she met and fell in love with William “Bill” R. Hohmann. They were married 52 years until his death in 2004.
Survivors include her sister, Judith (Edgar) Barnett, of Chicago; and her children Susan (Stan) Dilley, of Buckeye, Ariz.; Sarah (Bob) Loutt, of New Palestine, Ind.; Thomas (Barb) Hohmann, of Vero Beach; and Jennifer (Steve) Frederick, of Vero Beach. Also surviving Candy are her most loving grandchildren: Samantha, Sara, Chris, Martin, Jenn, Erica, Jessica, Melissa and Tyler; and her great-granddaughter, Isabelle.
Candy’s work life spanned real estate, banking, and home health care.
She was an avid volunteer with nearly 7,000 hours in the ER of Indian River Medical Center. In the past few years she volunteered at the Cat’s Meow, a no-kill cat shelter in Vero Beach.

Joel H. Moore, 82, Sebastian
Joel H. Moore, 82, died Dec. 12, 2017, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian.
He was born in Casey County, Kentucky, and has lived in Sebastian for 14 years coming from Atlanta, Ga.
Joel received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Louisville.
He retired after 30 years with the Department of Justice, serving the Eastern US. After retirement Joel taught his expertise of crime scene investigation in Central American countries.
He was a member of Sebastian Church of Christ, Sebastian.
Survivors include wife of 52 years Patricia; daughter, Carolyn Moore; and son, David Moore, both of Atlanta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his brother Dennie L. Moore; and parents, Dennie and Flora Moore.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Sebastian Church of Christ, 1045 Main Street, Sebastian.
Edward Prout, 81, Sebastian
Edward Prout, 81, of Sebastian, passed away on Dec. 13, 2017.
He leaves his son, Kevin Prout of Middletown, Conn.; his daughters, Cherell Curtis, of Bristol, Conn., Diane Ciemniewski, of Avon Park, Fla., Lisa Pecorelli, of Glastonbury, Conn., Karen Parker, of Clermont, Fla.; and was pre-deceased by his daughter, Lynn Paladino, of New Britain, Conn. He also leaves seven grandchildren and his beloved dog and best friend, Putt Putt the Mutt Mutt.
A native of Connecticut and retired owner of Ed’s Cycles in Bristol, Ed was Hell on Wheels!
He loved riding his Harleys and traveling the country setting records with his racecars The Plaything, NuStalgia and others.
