Second body found at fish farm ID’d as missing woman

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A second body found in the same area where Thomas Hare’s body was discovered belongs to a woman who was reported missing earlier this month, deputies said.

Investigators identified the body as 55-year-old Nancy Browne, who was reported missing Dec. 5 and last seen Dec. 4, said Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Thom Raulen.

Deputies confirmed the second body found at a fish farm last week belongs to Nancy Browne, a woman who was reported missing.

Her body was found Dec. 7 in a pond at a fish farm in the 2400 block of 27th Avenue Southwest, according to the sheriff’s office and a criminal investigation report released Monday.

Her belongings were found in the same area where Hare’s body was discovered in another pond, sheriff’s officials said. The fish farm appears to have multiple rectangular shaped ponds in an agricultural area located on the east end of the farm.

Preliminary information shows that both Hare and Browne drowned, Raulen said. Details on any other connections between Browne and Hare were not available.

The Sheriff’s Office late last week said Browne had been located, but did not specify if she was found alive. The case is an active investigation.
