Grand Harbor condo offers resort lifestyle

The Grand Harbor master plan from the air looks similar to one of Gauguin’s Tahiti masterpieces, the islands, lakes, golf greens, roads, paths and pools all intertwined into an organic whole that offers endless diversions and meanderings within its refined nature preserve.

A one-bedroom condominium in the Harmony Island neighborhood, at 5030 Harmony Circle, No. 102, offers 900 square feet of choice real estate within the luxury community. Grand Harbor, although begun over 30 years ago, is still growing, its vast domain spreading between Indian River Lagoon and Indian River Boulevard, with a Beach Club on the island to give members an ocean-front playground.

The Beach Club is a separate membership and comes with beachside umbrellas and chairs, poolside cabanas, two dining rooms and social events.

Other levels of membership include use of two championship golf courses with golf pros available for lessons and twice-weekly men’s and women’s golf events and a yearly championship for members.

Club members have access to 10 clay tennis courts, also with pros available for upping your game. Three dining rooms will satisfy all palates. Classes, lectures, special and regular events and activities will thrill the socially active. If golf or tennis aren’t your sports, a fitness center, bocce courts, trails, kayaking, bird watching and the big community swimming pool are also on offer. No wonder there are over 900 members.

What’s more, Grand Harbor’s picturesque marina has 144 deep-water slips, so bring the yacht.

Obviously ownership at Grand Harbor is just as much about lifestyle as it is real estate, and both give great value. There is no reason to leave the unit idle while traveling or living at a home up north during the off-season; renting – for a month or more – is allowed. Club memberships can be temporarily transferred to the renters. This is a pet-friendly community allowing up to two furry friends.

The owner of the Harmony Island condominium rented her property “and did very well, with a strong rental history,” said listing agent Ashley Harris, who is part of the Sand & Land Team with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.

The Harmony Island homeowners’ association provides cable TV, a pool, master insurance, pest control, roof and other exterior maintenance, security and trash removal, “for a lock-and-leave lifestyle,” Harris said.

No. 102 at 5030 Harmony Circle is a first-floor unit, very near the pool that’s just for Harmony Island. It comes with a covered parking space, which has a storage unit at the back. The screened patio is big enough for a hammock, settees and tables and overlooks the 18th hole on the championship golf course.

The kitchen has quartz countertops and matching table that look like marble and a tile floor. The handsome stainless-steel appliances are durable as well as attractive, same as the washer and dryer in the small laundry room, which clean up from a day at the beach a snap.

The half- and full-bath also have tile floors and quartz counters. The soaking tub with shower head offers two bathing options. Closet and storage space are fulsome.

Warm, Mediterranean revival architecture extends throughout Grand Harbor, including Harmony Island’s three-floor condominiums, with lovely walkways, archways and columns gracing the stucco buildings roofed in red-clay tile.

The Harmony Island community was built in 1988 and continues to gain value, Grand Harbor having an established reputation for top-notch building, maintenance and management.

The location is central, also contributing to a carefree lifestyle, keeping driving time to a minimum.
