Sebastian River Art Club prepares for busy season

SEBASTIAN – The enthusiastic members of Sebastian River Art Club are gearing up for a busy season of art, fun and festivities. Art classes are open to the public, from newbies to well-seasoned, on Tuesdays and Thursday’s from 9 a.m. to Noon.

The gallery exhibiting their work is open Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The club is located at 1245 Main St., Sebastian, next to City Hall and the Historic Sebastian Elementary School.

The club consists of a diverse group of creative individuals expressing themselves through many types of media, include painting, sculpture, photography, art glass, jewelry, wood carving, pottery, mixed media, textiles and much more.

Many have done commissioned pieces for individuals and groups. This past October, the club celebrated its 80th anniversary.

From November to April the club hosts the Art by the River Fine Art Show once a month on a Saturday (Sunday if it rains) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first show of the season is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 25.

“It’s a great time to shop for gifts or for yourself,” the club said. “Meet the artists and expand your horizons.”

The show is in Sebastian Riverview Park at the corner of US 1 and Sebastian Boulevard.

The club supports the community by fostering appreciation of the arts through public art shows, exhibits, charitable donations, and our annual Rosalee Taylor Hume Art Scholarship.
