SEBASTIAN — A motorcyclist has died after a morning collision where he drove into the path of a truck, a Sebastian Police Department spokesman said. This is the second fatal crash that occurred Thursday in the county.
Shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, a 72-year-old man was driving westbound in a Ford F-150 truck on County Road 512 near Roseland Road. The truck was traveling through a green light when an eastbound motorcycle made a left turn into the truck’s path, Sebastian police spokesman Commander John Blackledge said.
The motorcyclist, a 67-year-old man, was awake and breathing when emergency responders arrived at the scene. The man was taken to the Sebastian River Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Blackledge and Sheriff’s spokesman Thom Raulen.
Blacklege said the motorcyclist was at fault for the crash because he drove directly into the truck’s path at the green light. The truck had the right of way.
The crash closed the immediate area at the County Road 512 and Roseland Road intersection for a couple hours. The truck driver’s condition was not immediately available.
The Sebastian Police Department is investigating the crash. No further information was immediately available.
