INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A man fell 20 feet from a roof at the Parabel facility in western Indian River County, and was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center to be treated for numerous injuries.
According to records provided by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, the man was conscious and stable when crews arrived on scene shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday. He was not identified other than described as being in his 30s.
The report states that a medical call came in at 10:04 a.m. at Parabel, located in the 7000 block of S. Headwaters Commerce St., a short distance south of State Road 60. Crews arrived at 10:18 a.m. and a trauma alert and request for air transport were issued at 10:20 a.m.
St. Lucie Air arrived at 10:45 a.m. and less than 10 minutes later the man was en route to Lawnwood.
According to the report, the man fell onto dirt from a height of 20 feet and fractured an arm, and broke a hip and femur.
His condition at Lawnwood was not immediately known.
Parabel grows locally hand-picked micro crops of water lentils and processes them for sustainable agricultural products whether in the food or feed markets.
