Linda C. Angell, 75, formerly Vero Beach

Linda C. Angell, 75, of Avon, Ct., and formerly of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017. Born in Boston, Mass., on May 29, 1942, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Craig and Carolyn (Stockhoff) Angell.

She was a graduate of the University of Rochester and later served in the national office of the Girl Scouts of America as an administrator, where she supported GSA’s mission to provide leadership and character-building experiences to young women all across the country. Linda was an active volunteer with the Humane Society of Vero Beach. She had a truly loving and generous soul, and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Her family is very grateful for the wonderful care and compassion given by the entire staff of the Avon Health Center.

Linda’s family has arranged for private services at their convenience. Memorial donations in Linda’s honor may be given to a charity of personal significance. The Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center of Avon, Ct., is in care of the arrangements.

 

Juliet Bleecker Peniston Dykstra, 88, Vero Beach

Juliet Bleecker Peniston Dykstra, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on Oct. 18, 2017. She was born Aug. 28, 1929, in New York City, N.Y., to Eric W. Peniston, of Bermuda and New York City, and Juliet B. Rathbone Jones, of Haverford, Pa.

She studied Art History at Sarah Lawrence, N.Y. Juliet was a traveler, starting as a child and continuing throughout her life, visiting more than 50 countries, eight of which she lived in, and she spoke four languages.

Wherever she lived, Juliet supported charities that focused on giving children the opportunity to develop and live up to their potential, mainly through education – most recently by supporting the Scholarship Foundation of Indian River County. Other cherished charities included the Humane Society, the Salvation Army, Vero Beach Opera, the Audubon Society and the Cancer Society.

Juliet is survived by her five children, Wilson C. (Nidia “Nani Velasco) Carter, Juliet B. Carter, Beverly R. (partner Henk van den Berg) Carter, Elise P. Carter, and A. Stephanie (partner Manuel Mateo Callealta) Dykstra; and seven grandchildren, Alison, Wilson, Tim, Blake, Nic, Nina and Jolie.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, August Dykstra, of the Netherlands.

Any donations in Juliet Dykstra’s name are welcome to be made to the Scholarship Foundation of Indian River County.
