FEMA Disaster Recovery Center opens at library

VERO BEACH — In an effort to continue to provide assistance to those affected by hurricane Irma, a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center has opened at a local library, according to emergency services officials.

This center will provide assistance from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at the Indian River State College Brackett Library, 6155 College Lane, Vero Beach. The center will provide more complete services than the one that was held last month.

Disaster Recovery Centers serve as one-stop shops for eligible storm survivors looking for one-on-one help, emergency officials said.

The centers provide assistance with filling out applications, updating the status of a survivor’s application, providing referral services to voluntary organizations that offer a variety of services to survivors and providing access to the U.S. Small Business Administration for loan help and customer service.

Representatives from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and various state agencies will be at the center to answer questions.
