INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Five people were rescued from the ocean after two boats capsized in the Sebastian Inlet, Indian River County deputies said. The incident happened just a few days after officials rescued three men whose boat capsized near the same location.
Deputies responded to a call of two capsized vessels shortly before noon Monday at the inlet, sheriff’s Lt. Thom Raulen said. One vessel had four people on board and the other had one person on board; they all ended up in the water, but were rescued, said Greg Workman, spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The cause of the incident was not immediately available.
Aviation, marine and patrol units helped rescue the boaters, deputies said. The FWC is investigating the incident.
