INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Congressional Candidate Pam Keith will address members and guests of the Democratic Women’s Club of Indian River County at the organization’s Oct. 14 luncheon meeting. Keith is running for Florida’s 18th Congressional District seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, a Republican freshman legislator from Palm City.
With an impressive first venture into politics as a 2016 candidate for the U.S. Senate, Keith said the experience will help her with the 2018 House race. She lost the Senate Democratic nomination to Patrick Murphy but came within about two percent points of challenger Alan Grayson.
The South Florida Democrat was born while her diplomatic family was abroad with the Foreign Service. She lived in Turkey, Morocco, Syria, Brazil and several U.S. cities before entering the University of California at Davis. There she earned bachelor and master degrees in communications.
Keith received her juris doctorate from Boston College Law School and then joined the U.S. Navy as a judge advocate, serving for four years, including a tour in the Persian Gulf area.
She went into corporate law in Washington, D.C. before moving to Florida as senior labor and employment counsel for Florida Power and Light/NextEra Energy based in Jupiter.
The Democratic Women’s Club’s Saturday luncheon meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Vero Beach Country Club, 800 30th St. in Vero Beach.
Cost is $25 and reservations are required; email [email protected].
