William “Bill” Bauman, 91, Vero Beach

William “Bill” Bauman, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at his home after a period of declining health. Bill was born on Nov. 19, 1925. in Owensboro, Ky., to Charles and Georgia Bauman.

He had a happy childhood growing up in Owensboro. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in Fall 1943, he served as an airplane mechanic until 1946. He subsequently enrolled at the University of Kentucky and graduated with an Engineering degree in Spring 1950.

Bill dated Dorothy Allen during college and they were married in June 1951. They lived in Ft. Worth, Texas, for 10 years. During that time Bill worked for Convair-General Dynamics and earned a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Southern Methodist University. In 1961 Bill accepted a job at Martin Marietta in Orlando and worked in various capacities such as aerodynamic analyst, group leader and systems manager for missile projects and manager of the Aerophysics Department until he retired in 1991.
Bill and Dorothy lived in Orlando for four years and then moved to Winter Park in 1965. Bill lived in his Winter Park home for 47 years. During these years Bill had several hobbies: making fine furniture, researching genealogies, reading history books and undertaking home improvement projects.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy, in 1996 and moved to Vero Beach in 2012. He is survived by: daughters and sons-in-laws, Elizabeth (Terry) Oas, of Durham, N.C.; Catherine (Marc) Cleversey, of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Alicia, Julia and Peter (Oas); and Hannah, Jessica and Christina (Cleversey); and his brother-in-law Harry (Betty) Allen.
A celebration of his life was held in Winter Park, Fla.

Elizabeth G. Quinn Donald, 94, Vero Beach

Elizabeth G. Quinn Donald, 94, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully at Willowbrook Court Medical Center at Indian River Estates on Sept. 25, 2017.

She was born July 15, 1923, in Altoona, Pa., and graduated from Osceola Mills, PA H.S.  Upon graduation she moved to Washington, D.C., and went to work for the government as a clerical assistant during WWII.

She met and married attorney Charles W. Quinn working in the same division. Upon his retirement in 1975, they moved from Silver Spring, Md., to Mission Viejo, Calif., for 18 years and then relocated to Indian River Estates in Vero Beach. in 1993.

During her 24 years at Indian River Estates, Betty always enjoyed the interaction with fellow residents and staff.  She took part in many activities and volunteer work.

In 2009, she married fellow resident Duncan F. Donald.  Over the last 8 1/2 years they took many cruises and trips.  They also enjoyed many activities at the Vero Beach Country Club.

In addition to her husband, Duncan, she is survived by her daughter, Susan (Michael) Pond, of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; grandsons, Christopher (Ashley) Pond, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Matthew (Krystle) Pond of Grant, Fla.; and four great-grandsons, Grayson, Campbell, Gavin, and Luke; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and many treasured friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Willowbrook Court for their exemplary care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer/Parkinson’s Association or to the VNA Foundation both of Indian River County and Vero Beach.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church located at 74th Ave. and 26th St., Vero Beach.

A reception will follow mass at the Indian River Estates West Auditorium.

Interment will be private.
