Man calls deputies to report “stolen blunts”

VERO BEACH — A 45-year-old man upset about his blunts being stolen had called deputies to report the theft.

Deputies responded to a business burglary call shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the 2400 block of 43rd Street, Vero Beach. The name of the business was not immediately available.

Deputies spoke with the complainant, who told them he left the business to go get something from his house and when he came back the door was open. He told deputies he locked the door before he left and that someone must’ve pried it open.

The complainant said he looked inside and noticed all of his blunts were missing. His girlfriend’s cell phone and about $5 in quarters also were missing.

Deputies asked the complainant about the brand of the blunt, but the complainant “could not provide that information.”

He told deputies the stolen items are worth $355 total. Deputies also spoke with a witness who said he saw a shirtless man in his 20s with red basketball shorts walking near the store.

When deputies walked inside, they didn’t see any signs of forced entry to the door or rummaging inside the store. The complainant told deputies he doesn’t have any security cameras at the store.

Deputies canvassed the area, but were unable to find any of the stolen items.
