FELLSMERE — Residents looking for free hot meals during the Hurricane Irma aftermath are in luck.
The Salvation Army will be serving hot meals to residents at 5:45 p.m. Monday, officials said. The meal truck will be parked at Little League Park at South Orange Street and California Avenue.
Vehicles must enter through the food line from County Road 512 at South Orange Street. The meal give-away is a drive-through operation, but bicyclists and pedestrians also are welcome.
Volunteers are staffing the meal give-away, so residents should be patient, courteous and obey directions. There will be one hot meal per person on a first come, first serve basis.
When all meals are handed out, the meal give-away will end. The event is sponsored by the Fellsmere Action Community Team, For the Love of Paws/Paws Pet Food Pantry and the City of Fellsmere.
