About 5:30 a.m. June 10, deputies responded to the stabbing in the 2600 block of 68th Square at the Vero Green apartment community. They saw Deborah Jackson, 66, in the parking lot with fatal stab wounds, deputies said.

Jackson was taken to the Indian River Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 6 a.m.

Deputies got a description of the suspect and located the car he was in driving northbound on 58th Avenue. They used stop sticks on the car when it reached the 4500 block of 43rd Avenue in Gifford, causing it to crash.

The suspect, later identified as Brinson, fled on foot, but was found shortly after at his home nearby. His girlfriend Pierre had called deputies and told them her car was stolen.

They went to the home and found Brinson hiding in the shower, deputies said. Pierre admitted to deputies that Brinson told her he killed a woman and to report the car as stolen.

Shortly before the stabbing, Brinson was seen walking and talking with Jackson in the apartment complex. But, details on their relationship are unknown.
