Jon M. Mangeot, 72, Vero Beach
Jon M. Mangeot, 72, of Vero Beach, passed away Aug. 26, 2017, at Indian River Medical Center. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, to Orville and Mary Reinhard on May 21, 1945.
He joined the Air Force immediately after high school. During his military term, he was stationed in Mississippi, the Philippines and Viet Nam. After he was discharged with honors, he worked on a government contract for Lear Siegler in Japan for a year.
In 1970, he moved to West Palm Beach then to Vero Beach and worked as Operations Officer for the flight line service at Vero Beach Airport.
In 1970, he married his love, Carolyn Carter. He also worked at Vero Marine Center. In 1974, he started his own swimming pool business, The Pool Keeper, Inc.
He has been very active in The National Organization (NSPI). He was president of the West Palm Beach Chapter for several years and organizer of the state convention for two years in a row, where he was elected to The “Hall of Fame” in 1998. Jon was a pilot and an avid boater. He was a member of the AOPA, the Porsche Club of America and MTOA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn; son, Michael (Hilary); granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Zoe; his faithful dog, Braxton; brothers, Mark (Valerie), Bruce (Colleen), Roy Carter (Ronda); sisters, Pam Ward (Don), Mari Rowland (Tom),Charlene Kimberly (Roger), Maida McCoy (Gary) and Angela Carter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception for family and friends will follow at the family home.
