Indian River County’s Bolt Aquatics Swim Team entered the South Florida Recreation Swim League’s 2017 Summer Swimming Championship as the defending champions in the Girls Division, Boys Division and overall Team Division when they competed earlier this month at the Sailfish Aquatic Center in Stuart on Aug. 5 and 6. And again, they went home champions, winning in all three divisions.
“Every member of this team gives his or her best every time they enter the pool. Once again, we went home with more gold medals than ever before. Nearly every Bolt Aquatics team member who participated recorded at least one personal best time, which speaks to their dedication and perseverance, skills that will serve them well throughout life,” said Bolt Aquatics Coach William Bolton.
The meet featured 950 swimmers representing 20 teams competing in age groups from ages 4-6 upward through 15-18.
Bolt Aquatics entered 40 local swimmers, ranging in age from 4 through 17, in the State Championship meet. Swimmers from all age groups logged significant contributions and were awarded more than 120 trophies, medals and ribbons. Team members recorded an unprecedented number of personal best times and broken team records and 28 event champions. The Bolts won 53 out of 83 events on their way to victory.
Indian River County Bolt Aquatics Swim Team trains year-round at the City of Vero Beach Recreation Center, Leisure Square, and Sebastian Indian River North County Aquatic Center. Dedicated to teaching children water safety and goal setting, the program creates mentally and physically strong children who gain skills for life well beyond their competitive swimming years.
