INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies are investigating an incident where two boat motors worth $19,000 each were stolen from a 25-foot Seahunt boat.

Officials responded to the scene shortly before 2 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of Fortunella Circle Southwest in southern Indian River County, deputies said. They spoke with a man who told them his twin Yamaha outboard boat motors were stolen.

The man said his boat was parked in the vessel parking at the Citrus Springs boat yard, 5400 9th Street Southwest, in the locked storage area. Deputies went to the area where the boat was parked and saw the front gate pad lock was cut off the fence.

They walked into the lot and said it appeared the thief moved a small bike trailer and backed a truck next to the boat, deputies said. Deputies walked to the back of the boat and saw multiple pry marks to the fiber glass and that the bolts on the motor mounts appeared to be cut off.

The wiring to both engines was cut near the motor, deputies said. Both motors had engine locks on them, which were removed with minor damage. Deputies also noticed multiple glove prints and a few arm hairs near the rear of the boat.
