SEBASTIAN — A 50-year-old man was arrested after he and his girlfriend fought during an argument about what they were going to eat for dinner, police said.
Toni Jouky, of the 1100 block of Croquet Lane, Sebastian, was charged with battery. He was released Friday from the Indian River County Jail on $1,000 bail.
Sebastian police responded to the incident about 10 p.m. Thursday at Jouky’s home. They spoke with Jouky at the scene, who told them he and his live-in girlfriend had a verbal argument about dinner.
He said his girlfriend then threw a remote at him, and he threw it back at her, hitting her foot, police said. Police spoke to the woman, who said she threw a bag of candy she was eating from at Jouky after being hit with the remote.
She said Jouky slapped the glasses off her face, and hit and scratched her in the neck area, police said. Jouky told police the woman kept throwing items at him and that she also hit and scratched him in the neck area.
Jouky had small redness and scratches around his neck while the woman had large visible red marks around the left side of her neck, police said. Police determined Jouky was the main aggressor from the statements and evidence at the scene.
He was taken to the county jail for booking.
