(BPT) – Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects hundreds of thousands of Americans. In addition to physical symptoms, UC can impact a person’s work, family and social activities. And yet, a recent Pfizer-sponsored study of 68 UC patients and their gastroenterologists in the U.S. and Europe found that patients rarely speak of the impact of UC on their quality of life with their physicians, indicating a need for more open dialogue.
