(BPT) – Every day 10,000 Americans turn 65 years old.1 At 65, your risk of being hospitalized after getting pneumococcal pneumonia is 13X greater than adults younger than 50.2
The CDC recommends pneumococcal vaccination for all adults 65 years and older3 and states that “vaccination is the safest, most effective way to protect yourself” from pneumococcal pneumonia.4
Pneumococcal pneumonia can strike at any time of the year, but flu ‘season’ is a good time to be thinking about getting a pneumococcal vaccination.
