Floyd F. “Frank” Koolger Jr., 88, of Vero Beach passed away Oct. 6, 2016.
He is survived by his nephews, Richard (Paula) Scholfield of Grand Rapids, Mich., and David Scholfield of Kentucky; niece Cynthia (Jeffrey) Berner of Brighton, Mich.; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
His wife, Patty, preceded him in death six months ago on April 12, 2016.
Koogler was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Jan. 23, 1928, and graduated from Purdue University in 1951 where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. After graduating with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering, his career in the Aerospace Industry spanned more than 50 years.
He served in the US Air Force as a pilot during the Korean War, where he honed his love of planes. After the war, he owned his own planes, and later flew them as a commercial pilot. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Patty, in Dayton, Ohio. Long time residents of Vero Beach, he and Patty were world travelers and avid tennis players.
