VERO BEACH — Fourteen Bones owner Scot Wilke didn’t let his restaurant being closed stop him from feeding the masses in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.
Wilke has traditionally opened during times of community need. As word spread, the line grew and stayed long all day.
Even after the hurricanes in 2004, he was there to serve the people looking for comfort and a hot meal.
Wilke fired up his catering van and grill and asked his servers if they’d come and help.
“I just like helping people out,” Wilke said. “It’s how I’m built.”
