Friends and family celebrated the marriage of Carrie Ludicke and James “Jim” Adams at an elegant brunch reception last Saturday at The Moorings Yacht and Country Club. The bride is employed as marketing director at New Vision Eye Center and is president of Spinnaker Marketing and Technology, and the groom is a real estate developer and vice president at Passage Island Construction.
The pair met as friends 20 years ago and later dated briefly before rekindling their romance in October 2011. Both avid golfers, Jim Adams competes in tournaments through the Golf Channel Amateur Tour and they belong to the Moorings, Hawks Nest and Pointe West clubs in Vero Beach, and the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg, Mass., where they have a second home.
When the logistics of coordinating a single date that would accommodate both their families proved difficult, the couple enjoyed two intimate wedding ceremonies for immediate family and close friends prior to this reception for Vero Beach friends.
“He proposed on Oct. 26, 2015, at a golf tournament at Grand Cypress and we originally had a big wedding planned for Nov. 19, 2016,” explains the new Mrs. Adams. “But we decided we’re not spring chickens, and he made the comment, ‘Hey, what are we waiting for?’ Jim didn’t want a big wedding but knew it was important to me. All I really wanted was for it to be special.”
The first ceremony was held April 30 at a magnificent house at Reunion, a golfing community near the Orange County National Golf Center where Adams was competing in a tournament.
“We had a priest come in to perform the ceremony and we had a catered dinner; we did the whole nine yards. It was really lovely,” said Carrie Ludicke Adams.
The second ceremony, July 2, was attended by his children and grandchildren, in keeping with their traditional Independence Day get-togethers. At the Vero Beach reception, 100 well-wishers enjoyed a gourmet brunch while wishing the happy couple a lifetime of happiness.
