James H. Simmons, 69, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sept. 15, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Martha Elaine Pitre Simmons of McNeill, Miss.; his daughter Rhonda (Nathan) Rigaud of Vero Beach; and the joy of his life, his grand-daughter Sydney Rigaud of Vero Beach. He is also survived by his mother Katie Simmons of McNeill, Miss., two brothers, Charles Jr. and Robert, both of McNeill, Miss., and one sister, Patricia Carter of McNeill, Miss. He has a host of nieces and nephews that loved their uncle.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Edward Simmons, Sr. and one brother, Billy Ray Simmons.
Simmons was born in Picayune, Miss., on Feb, 27, 1947.
Visitation will be held at Central Baptist Church in McNeill, Miss., on Oct. 8, 2016 from 9 to 11 a.m. with a short service at 11 a.m. A full military burial will be held at Lee’s Chapel #1 in Millcreek, Miss., immediately following the service.
Simmons served our country in Vietnam where he was a radio operator, and was discharged with several medals of honor.
