James Wilson Johnson, 90, of Sebastian, passed away on Sept. 11, 2016, at the Sebastian Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife Gail Littlefield Johnson of Sebastian; son James Johnson of Valdosta, Ga.; daughter Phyllis Ann Ewing of Valdosta, Ga.; and grandson Corey Ewing of Boston, Mass.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Johnson.
Johnson was born in Jackson, Tenn., and moved to Vero Beach in 1986 from West Palm Beach. After his first wife’s passing in 2001, he built a home in Murphy, N.C. He married his current wife, Gail Littlefield, in 2004 and they moved to Sebastian in 2013.
He served in the US Air Force, flying in B-52’s as a lower ball turrent gunner during WWII, and also served during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Upon retiring from the Air Force he became a customs inspector in West Palm Beach, eventually retiring in 1991.
Johnson joined the Masonic Lodge in Germany during his time in service. He was a member of the First Church of God in Vero Beach and The First Baptist Church in Murphy.

Interment with military honors will take place 1 p.m., Sept. 16, 2016 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
