Scotty Holt, 68, Vero Beach

Scotty Holt, 68, of Vero Beach, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 18, 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Holt; two step-sons, Rev. Jesse M. (Holly) Crutchley of Severna Park, Md., and Nicholas S. Crutchley of Vero Beach; and four grandchildren, Ellie, Jack, Nora, and Addison Crutchley.

Holt was born on Oct. 1, 1947, in Crawfordville, Ind., to Cecil Lavon Holt and Kathryn Mae (Gregg) Holt.

He moved to Vero Beach 26 years ago, coming from Darlington, Ind.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal (3 stars), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Holt attended Indiana Vocational Technical School, earning his Associates Degree in Applied Sciences.

He retired from the City of Vero Beach after 26 years of service as an electro-mechanic.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 39, Vero Beach and the Elks Lodge #1520 of Fort Pierce.

Family will greet friends Saturday, Aug. 27, from 1:30 to 3 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 3 p.m., at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, 1655 27th St., Vero Beach, with Rev. Jesse M. Crutchley, officiating.
