INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Children under the age of 18 will have the opportunity to receive free vision, dental, and Body Mass Index (BMI) screenings on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pelican Island Elementary School in an effort to promote the Community School Program.
There will also be information available for parents and guardians about career and job opportunities, financial assistance programs, and banking financial options for families. Adults can have their blood pressure readings taken, as well.
The Community School event will also have free fruits and veggies, snacks, juice, water, and even groceries will be available, while supplies last. There will be activities and demonstrations throughout the day, as well as a performance by the Pelican Island Elementary Drumline, raffle for prizes and a blood drive
The goal of Pelican Island Elementary is to be an academic, heath, and social service resource for the community.
