Thomas Joseph Maybury, 84, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 22, 2016, with his loving family by his side.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce (Russell) Maybury; his son John Maybury (Sandy) of East Longmeadow; and his daughter Patricia Towson and her husband Neil of East Longmeadow; his eight grandchildren, Thomas (Kait), William (Maura), Magen (Bobby), Samantha, Tricia, Kaitlin, Neil (Samantha), and Chelsea; five great-grandchildren, Aidan, Liam, James, Jacob and Lilah; and the rest of the extended family.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, William Maybury; and his two sisters, Ellen Donoghue and Peggy Springer.
Maybury was born in Springfield to the late William and Agnes (McCarthy) Maybury on April 22, 1932.
He was a 1949 graduate of Springfield Technical High School. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was the President and CEO of Maybury Material Handling in East Longmeadow, Mass., for over 20 years.
Maybury was a strong believer in public service and was extremely active and generous with his time in the East Longmeadow and Fort Pierce Communities. In East Longmeadow as a member of the Rotary he was a Paul Harris Fellow recipient, as well as a member of the Lions Club, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of Public Works.
In Florida, he was involved in Mustard Seeds Charitable Giving, the First Congregational Church of Fort Pierce. He was also a member of the Fort Pierce Elks and the Fort Pierce Morning Rotary Club.
He was a kind, good-hearted man who loved his family and his home. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Aug. 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Fort Pierce, 3601 Kirby Loop Road, Fort Pierce, and immediately followed by a gathering held at the Church.
