Alan E. Garner, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away on July 26, 2016, at the Hospice House of Vero Beach.
The third child of Thomas and Emily Garner of Edmonton, London UK, he leaves behind his wife Gwendoline of 53 years and two sisters and a half-sister in England.
He spent three years in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy aboard a Submarine Depot Ship, HMS Forth based in Malta in the Mediterranean. This gave him a lifetime love of the sea.
Another love discovered much later in life was flying. In England he worked in corporate positions as Sales Director for a subsidiary of the British Motor Corporation and Cable Manufacturers before starting his own real estate business in 1970 in the UK. He moved to Florida in 1988 and his real estate business still continues in Florida today. He became a US citizen in 2003.
A celebration of his life will be held at Strunk funeral home at 917 17th St., Beach, FL on Tuesday, August 2 at 10.30 am. This will be preceded by a graveside service at 10 a.m. At the Crestlawn Cemetery Vero Beach. Friends are invited to join the family in sharing precious memories of Alan’s life.
