Norma Jean Scharfschwerdt, 85, Vero Beach

Norma Jean Scharfschwerdt, 85, of Vero Beach, passed away in her home on July 22, 2016.

She is survived by her children Randy Perkuhn of Ypsilanti, Mich., Tamara Perkuhn (Alicia) of Ann Arbor, Mich., Laura Harbour (John) of Smynra, Ga., Lynne Glass of Vero Beach, Anna Fuller (Dan) of Vero Beach, Lisa Hodges (Ron) Kennesaw, Ga., Rick Scharfschwerdt of Vero Beach, Jim Scharfschwerdt of Vero Beach, Barb Bodnar (Michael) of Vero Beach; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Fritz Scharfschwerdt in 2013.

Scharfschewerdt was born in Topeka, Kan., and lived in Vero Beach for 46 years coming from her birth place.

She was a graduate of Topeka High School and was very involved with their Alumni and the Topeka High Historical Association. After graduation she attended Washburn University, Topeka, Kan.

Scharfschewerdt worked for Hopper’s Shoe Store and Danish Interiors furniture store and also had a career as a realtor while living in Vero Beach. She was very involved with the Jaycees.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., July 27, 2016, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach with a memorial service to be held at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society P.O.
