SEBASTIAN — A man dressed in a “police style” long-sleeved uniform was arrested by real cops after allegedly robbing the Cumberland Farms on Sebastian Boulevard.
Sean Collins, 31, of Sebastian was wearing the uniform, complete with hat and large sunglasses, and armed with a kitchen knife and two threatening notes, according to his arrest report.
Near midnight Sunday, Collins demanded money from the clerk, according to authorities. He did not get access to the safe, but did get $200 to $250 from the register before fleeing on foot.
An hour later Collins returned to the scene, according to police. He was identified by multiple witnesses to the robbery.
The police uniform belonged to Collins’ father, who is a retired police offer. The uniform was kept in Collins’ room, according to police.
Collins faces charges of felony robbery armed with a deadly weapon and felony aggravated assault, according to the arrest report. He is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
