Roland Stanley Wood, 79, of Vero Beach, passed away on July 17, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Wood of Vero Beach; daughters Coral Ann Tischbin (William) of Fort Pierce, Vickie Peyssard (Lee) of Cocoa, Fla., and Lisa Thatcher (Jim) of Vero Beach; grandchildren Andrea Lingerfelt of Vero Beach, Kyle Thatcher of Vero Beach, Alix Rairden of Coral Springs, Jamie Mugan of Vero Beach and William Thischbin, Jr. of Port St. Lucie; great-grandchildren Nikkii Turner of Vero Beach, Nolan Rairden of Coral Springs and Elliott Rairden of Coral Springs; aunts Eula Andreason and Stella Hill both of Vero Beach.
Wood was born in Vero Beach and has been a lifetime resident. He was a graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1954. Following high school, he attended the University of Miami, Miami, Fla.
He served the Vero Beach community as a Vero Beach Police Officer for 36 years, retiring as Deputy Chief of Police in 1997.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of Roland’s life, 1 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2016 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation , Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 in memory of Roland Stanley Wood.
