Raymond J. Rogers, 78, Vero Beach

Raymond J. Rogers, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away from lung cancer on June 30, 2016, at Indian River Medical Center.

He is survived by his best friend, childhood sweetheart, and loving wife of 56 years, Sarah (Sally) of Vero Beach; their two sons: Matthew Raymond of Santa Monica, Calif., and Nathan Andrew of Ocean Township, N.J.; two grandchildren from the marriage of Nathan and his wife Kimberly Ann (Ernst): Taylor Andrew and Chelsea Autumn; as well as his brother Eugene Edward of Sarasota.

He was preceded in death in 2001 by his sister Kathleen Ann of Tallahassee.

Rogers was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late Daniel Raymond and Rose Bernadette (Harkins) Rogers of Lighthouse Point, Fla. and West Hartford.

They relocated to Vero Beach in 2004 from their home of more than 35 years in Greenwich, Conn.

Rogers’ career was devoted to the field of insurance and employee benefit plans. After joining Johnson and Higgins in New York City in 1967, he rose to the rank of VP, managed it’s EUROBEN office in Zurich, Switzerland and finally served as Principal of its consulting subsidiary, A. Foster Higgins, in Stamford, Conn.
