Milton E. Burdsall, 84, Vero Beach

Milton E. Burdsall, 84, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2016.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia Mason Albrecht; his sons Milton John Burdsall (Janet) of Marlton, N.J. and Mark David Burdsall (Jeannine) of Wexford, Pa.; Pat’s children Stephanie Albrecht Pedrick (Kevin) Egg Harbor Township, N.J., Kevin Albrecht (Beth) of Eugene, Ore., and Christian Albrecht (Lauren) of Wall, N.J.; grandchildren Timothy Colanagelo, Camden Burdsall, Maximus Pedrick and Atticus Pedrick; his brother William Leroy Burdsall of Bridgeton, N.J.

Burdsall was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1956. He was born June 7, 1932 in Bridgeton, N.J. He was the oldest son of Milton Chester Burdsall and Dorothy Raye Vannaman.

After graduating from the Naval Academy, Burdsall spent five years in Naval intelligence, first as aide to Captain Pete Aurand, who was liaison to President Dwight Eisenhower. He then chose San Diego where he was assigned as Asst. Officer in Charge of the Navy’s regional office. He resigned from the Navy with the rank of Lt. Cmdr. In private life he worked for Smith Kline & French and IBM before accepting a position with Insurance Company of North America before its merger with Connecticut General which then became CIGNA Corporation. After 28 years with CIGNA he retired as Vice President in 1997.

Burdsall enjoyed working with young people and served on the Juvenile Conference Committee in Cherry Hill, N.J. He was a member of the Naval Academy Alumnae Association, Space Coast Chapter, where he served on the committee that selected applicants to the Naval Academy. He was also a member of the Military Order of World Wars and the Navy League. He served as President of Florida Life Care Residents Association, a state-wide organization with represents the interests of those who live in life care communities. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church and the Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class.
