Richard Harley Calendine, 77, of Vero Beach, passed away from complications following surgery, on June 17, 2016.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georgeann Ferree Allard whom he met when they were both graduate students at Ohio State; two daughters, Caren Ferree (Gerald Stayer) and Michelle Louise DuBois (Jeffrey Wheeler); and three grandchildren, Sophia, Colin and Joshua; his sister Josephine Calendine Silman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Calvin and sister Pauline.
Calendine was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., the youngest of four children of Harley and Margaret Calendine. He received his BA from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and his MA in psychology from Ohio State University. He was a licensed psychologist and the director of Student Financial Aid at Columbus State Community College.
He was involved in many organizations and community service. He was an Eagle Scout, B.S.A. He received the Distinguished Service Order from the Grand Lodge of Theta Xi Fraternity. He was Chairman of the Board of Deacons and Ruling Elder in his Presbyterian church, and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of New England Lodge No. 4 and F&A.M., Worthington, Ohio with both York and Scottish Rites of Freemasonry completed.
Genealogy was his passion. He was past Vice-President General and President General of the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne; past Presiding Clerk of National Society Descendants of Early Quakers; past Historian and past Third Vice-President General of National Society Americans of Royal Descent, and belonged to many other groups.
