Philip A. Saubert, 81, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 19, 2016.
He is survived by his wife (Mary) Sue Saubert; daughter Jane Saubert of Orlando; and brother Richard Saubert of Melbourne.
He was born Oct. 3, 1934 in Bergland, Mich., to William Saubert and Jane Busteed.
In his four years in the Air Force he worked on electronic countermeasures during the Korean War. He attended Valparaiso University to study electrical engineering. With a 31-year career with Motorola, he oversaw communication projects for the National Hurricane Center, the Alaska Pipeline, the 1962 FIFA World Cup, numerous offshore drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico, and Presidents traveling abroad. In Toledo, Ohio he oversaw the instillation of microwave communications system linking hospitals to emergency medical services and paramedics. There he met his wife of 37 years, (Mary) Sue Morse.
After retiring he traveled extensively with this wife in their motor home and enjoyed collecting many objects of art and pop culture. Settling in Vero Beach, he remained active in the community with Redeemer Lutheran and Grace Lutheran Churches.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, 1150 41st Ave, Vero Beach, FL, 32960. Inurnment at the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.
