Jane Elizabeth Romeyn, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 9, 2016.
She is survived by her three children, Peter Romeyn (Beth) of Durham, N.C., Dirk Romeyn (Carol) of Simsbury, Conn., and Roberta Moore of Fort Pierce; five grandchildren, Krister, Daniel, Gregory, Jack and Leslie Romeyn; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Brady Romeyn.
Romeyn was the beloved wife of the late Russell F. Romeyn, and only child of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Donnan of Schnectady, N.Y. Born in New York, he graduated from Mt. Sinai Medical School with a degree in Registered Nursing.
While working in New York City, she met and married Russell in 1947 after WWII. In addition to her career in nursing, she and Russell were business entrepreneurs, opening several tire and auto centers in Connecticut in 1950, one of which is still operated by the family today. An active member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, she served as President, Treasurer and on many committees. She also volunteered at the Indian River Medical Center Emergency Room, and was a devoted dog-walker for the Humane Society.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the UUFVB at 11 a.m. Memorial donations in Jane’s memory may be made to The Humane Society of Vero Beach, 6239 77th St., Vero Beach, FL 32967.
