Margaret Verhoeff Vested, 98, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 12, 2016.
She is survived by her sons and their wives: Frederick (Rick) McCarthy and Mary Ellen McCarthy, William (Will) Verhoeff and Susan Verhoeff; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Verhoeff, and her husbands William McCarthy, John Wyper and Robert Vested.
Vested was born May 21, 1918, in Boston, Mass., to Dr. Frederick Verhoeff and Margaret Lougee Verhoeff. She married William McCarthy in Paris, France where she served in the Red Cross.
A graduate of Winsor School and Vassar College, she was an active member of the League of Women Voters. She lived in Brookline and Marblehead, Mass., West Hartford and Stonington, Conn., and finally Vero Beach. She was a member of the Eastern Yacht Club, The Town and Country Club, The Wadawanuck Club, and the Stonington Country Club.
