Space Coast Symphony kicks off season with Broadway hits June 19

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Bright Lights of Broadway will dazzle Vero Beach concert-goers when the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra salutes the biggest shows from the “Great White Way” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, at the Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd St, 32960.

Led by conductor Aaron T. Collins, the SCSO will kick off its 2016-17 season with hit after hit from Broadway’s storied past and present, featuring show tunes from South Pacific, Phantom of the Opera, Showboat, Mamma Mia, Fiddler on the Roof, Wicked, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar and more.

Tickets are $20 in advance and are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at several convenient ticket outlets, including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments.

Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director Aaron T. Collins is the recent winner of the Richard A. Stark Award for cultural leadership from the Cultural Council of Indian River County. For Collins, the concert is a salute to the immense talent of Broadway’s talented composers and song writers.

“Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerry Bock, ABBA, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber,” said Collins. “These are the names of the musical giants who wrote some of the biggest shows in Broadway history. Their music continues to move us to laughter and to tears.”
