Idaho fugitive nabbed in parents’ Vero home

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A fugitive wanted in Idaho on various charges was tracked down to his parents’ home in south Vero Beach.

Authorities from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested David Edward Phillips, 40, after his parents left their home in the 300 block of 39th Court.

Phillips, of Pocatello, Idaho, was wanted on multiple warrants, including two counts of injury to children and one count of destroying or concealing evidence, according to the arrest report.

Agents surrounded Phillips’ parents’ home and announced themselves, encouraging Phillips to leave the building.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force struggled with Phillips, ordering him to “stop resisting” and “place your hands behind your back.”

Phillips was taken into custody though he became physically resistant, the arrest report states.

Phillips is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $200,500 bail.
