INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Leslie Swan, Indian River County Supervisor of Elections, has achieved the designation of Master Florida Certified Elections Professional.
Supervisor Swan was recognized for her accomplishment during the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections mid-year conference held in Clearwater Beach.
This designation is awarded for career commitment to continuing professional development through participation in the Florida Certified Elections Professional (FCEP) training curriculum.
The mission of the FCEP training program is to provide and support continuing education and certification programs that encourage the highest level of professionalism in the field of elections. The FCEP program has received national recognition for this innovative collaboration with the Florida Institute of Government and the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections.
FCEP offers certification and credentialing in a tiered system. Participants move through a series of three levels with designations awarded at the completion of each level. The Master Florida Certified Elections Professional (MFCEP) designation is awarded to those individuals that complete all three levels of FCEP training.
Swan believes that in order to be a knowledgeable and effective Supervisor of Elections, it is imperative to continually seek further education. Florida is the only state in the country that offers a certified elections professional program.
“Participation in the FCEP education program provides an opportunity to review best practices by networking with other Florida elections officials and gain additional knowledge in the field of election administration,” Swan said.
