William E. Scovers, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away on May 12, 2016, at home.
He is survived by his children Karen (Thomas) Amato of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Alison (Garry) Sealock; and grandsons Brady, Gavin and Nolan of Centreville, Va., and Jason (Robin) Barrett; granddaughters Elizabeth and Danielle; sister Joan (Scovers) Sego; nephew Brett Sego of Raynham, Mass.; along with numerous relatives. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will greatly miss him.
He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn (Collins) Scovers, and granddaughter Lauren of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Scovers was born May 18, 1937 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late William and Mary (Gwozdz) Scovers. He had been a resident of Vero Beach for the last 19 years coming from Fairfax, Va., and Yonkers, N.Y. In 1954, he began service with the Air National Guard for six years and completed two more with the Air Force Reserve as part of the fire protection squadron.
For 34 years, he was employed by Mobil Oil holding many positions and retiring as chief photographer. He enjoyed collecting baseball memorabilia (Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets), gardening, photography and travelling.
