Robert E. Murphy, 80, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 3, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Barbara L. Murphy, of Vero Beach; daughter Kathy Pawlowski (Mike) of Vero Beach, and their two daughters Jennifer and Lauren; son Robert E. Murphy, Jr. (Gail) of Arlington, Texas and their two daughters Jill and Julie; son Glenn Murphy (Robyn) of White Post, Va., and their two children Bryan and Erin; son Keith Murphy (Teresa) of Auburn, Kent., and his three children, Burke, Nicolette, and Seth; son Kevin Murphy of Port Wentworth, Ga., and his two children Ross and Ashley; brother Paul Murphy (Laurie) of Bridgeport, Conn.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Kay Murphy and Louise P. Murphy, his wife and mother of his five children.
Murphy was born on Feb. 10, 1936, in New Haven, Conn. He was a tool designer by trade and moved to Vero Beach from Shelton, Conn., in 1977.
In Shelton, he was an active member of the Democratic Town Committee and was elected to the City’s Board of Aldermen. He also served on the Board of Education, City Utilities Commission, as a Boy Scout Leader and a Little League Coach.

Pastor Gail Murphy, his daughter-in-law, will be the lead celebrant for a celebration service on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, his children request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.
